For the Bushcraft Chair, how do I get the right length of branches for the tripod?

Great Question! The chair itself makes is the measuring guide. all the components needed are multiple chair widths long so the chair itself can be used to measure each part.

if you are going to bury the legs of the A frame into the ground just add on the length you are going to bury.

We have a video here and the founder of Salbok also published a blog article about it here.

Whats the best wood to use?

Another Great question. first of all, no matter the wood you need to make sure its dead (ideally dead standing) but not rotten. We have found that evergreen like pines and furs work well and are genrally easier to find stright but take a little more tidying up. Ash works great as well but any deadstanding that is the right thickness and straight (enough) should be fine.

Always make sure you have the landowners permission to harvest the materials needed.

How much weight can the Bushcraft Chair take?

The chair itself is rated to 140Kg or 22 stone. Every material was carefully selected and a high safety factor used to determin the rating so its for this reason we strongly recommend using the dedicated suspension kit supplied with the chair.

Can you wash the Bushcraft Chair?

Getting scuffs and marks is a sign of a well used hard working robust bit of kit but totally understand wanting to maintain kit. Our general advice would be to spot clean wherever possible using a damp cloth to wipe effected areas. If heavier soiling does require machine washing, wash them on a low temperature (no higher than 30 degrees an lower if possible) with non-biological soap. Do not tumble dry! as with all waterproof products they can be re proofed with aftermarket products.
